FILIPPO CONTESI

I am a philosopher, currently working at the University of Barcelona in the LOGOS Research Group and at the Barcelona Institute of Analytic Philosophy, as Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral Fellow (and, from 2020, as Beatriu de Pinós Postdoctoral Fellow). I was previously a US–Italy Fulbright Research Scholar in the Philosophy Department at Temple University and an École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales Postdoctoral Fellow at the Jean Nicod Institute. I did my PhD in aesthetics at the University of York, after studying at the Universities of Leeds and Bari. I have published and edited volumes and essays (both scholarly and more popular) on various issues in empirically informed philosophy of emotions and aesthetics, as well as on metaphilosophical and practical issues surrounding the use of English as a lingua franca in academic philosophy. In 2014, I founded the MAP UK network. From 2015 to 2017, I co-convened the Jean Nicod Institute’s “Aesthetics and Cognitive Science” (ÆCS) seminar series.
